Artist Statement
As someone who loves Derbyshire and all the hilly countryside, I’ve ofen been out on walks in the Peak District taking photos and gaining inspiration for my work. A lot of my paintings are an attempt to recapture the refreshing beauty of the outdoors.
Oil paint is my medium of choice because I can blend vibrant colours and work with texture. Acrylics and charcoal drawings also make up some of my portfolio. Charcoal in particular is effective in creating dark atmospheric skies which I love.
As part of the DOA this year, I am sharing a series of paintings of Derbyshire and some of my favourite places, both locally and further afield.
