Artist Statement
Reuben has recently left the British Army to become a freelance musician and artist having served as an army musician for six years.
His passion for combining both music and art is reflected in his oil paintings; they appear brought to life with strong impasto knife work juxtaposed with delicate detailed brush strokes.
Having formulated a distinctive style that combines a hint of the old guard chiaroscuro technique with overtones of modernism and impasto impressionism, Reuben hopes to capture the nuances of music and life within each brush stroke and give the viewer the sense that the paintings are a living breathing thing.
