Artist Statement
The Textile House offers a range of textile and fibre arts including quilting, embroidery and knitting. The designs show both traditional and modern interpretations and all work is designed with a 21st Century lifestyle in mind. Val's quilts have a bright and modern twist while Debbie specialises in natural colours and traditional designs. Alison makes bags and small quilts with inspiration drawn from the fabric she uses. Sheila creates beautiful brooches and caskets using machine embroidery techniques in unusual threads and beads. Sheila also creates jewellry using beads she has collected on her travels. Joy knits and crochets modern shawls and scarves using locally spun and dyed yarns. During the exhibition weekend she will be demonstrating.
