Artist Statement

Local artists have come together to exhibit their work at the pleasant venue of the old bakery, now known as Textiles@89, but we have more than textiles for you.

Jan Hoyle 'paints' with wool fibres to create images in felt of the local landscape and beyond, capturing the atmosphere and beauty of the scenery.

Geoff Tarbatt works largely in stoneware producing a wide range of ceramic ware.  Presently he is developing a range of bird forms and what he calls 'quirky architecture' using various clays and his own glazes.

Brenda Ford was first introduced to vitreous enamels in 1968 and has enjoyed the excitement, vibrancy and permanence ever since, with each firing being unique.  She specialises in colour matching to a sample.

Carol Wilson makes felt artwork celebrating the colours and textures of the Derbyshire landscape along with its wildlife.  She is an Environmental Quality Mark Holder, using naturally-dyed and locally sourced wool.

Janet Hallam-Elvin creates delightful lifelike sculptures of animals and birds using natural and recycled materials.

Studio Artists are an enthusiastic pastel and mixed media group.
