Artist Statement
Lance has always had an interest with a hands-on approach to making things predominantly with wood. This was further enhanced whilst at High School with woodwork being taught as part of the curriculum. The woodwork teacher ran an after-school club for those who wanted to learn more about this subject which including using a lathe.
Following a move to the High Peak Lance rekindled his interest with turning after obtaining a second lathe. Wood for Lance’s projects is predominantly from local sourced hardwoods such as Ash and Beech, etc.
Projects have included various sizes of bowls, plates, lidded boxes, lace bobbins, dibbers, etc.
