David Hunns Oil and Watercolours
Whatstandwell, DE4 5EJ
The focus for my work this 2018/19 has been the 'Derbyshire Edges'. Having recently moved from the Cambridgeshire Fens, I have been fascinated with how the Peak landscape contrasts with the flat fenland. The result is a series of oil and watercolour paintings which capture panoramic views and rocky crags, although big skies also still play an important role in my work.
My subject matters are found in the local and wider natural environment, often seen while out cycling or walking. My paintings are an emotional response to what I experience while exploring the landscape, returning to the studio to capture that fleeting moment in time.
I trained as an art teacher and taught art to children for many years enjoying all forms of art. Recently, I have taken on the challenge of oils and am enjoying the freedom and textures that can be achieved.
Opening the studio for Derbyshire Open Arts is a new venture for me, but I am pleased to announce that this year I'll be joined by two other local artists, Jo Hassan and Steph Jansen.
Although hidden away, we have stunning views over the Derwent Valley and Cromford Canal. Whatstandwell is a secret gem waiting to be explored. So please pay us a visit.
We are open for Derbyshire Open Arts.
You are welcome to visit South Lawn Studio any other time. The rest of the year you can also meet and view the beautiful felt pictures created by Kennedy Hunns.
However, we prefer you to ring 07835 886595 to make an appointment.
