Artist Statement

I am an Artist, Printmaker and Textile Designer, with a Degree in Printed Textiles from Manchester Metropolitan University. I am currently a member of Peak District  Artisans.

The starting point for all designs is my mixed media paintings and intaglio prints, including mixed media paintings and hand coloured etchings, collagraphs and monoprints. Recurring themes include quirky little birds, magical gardens and romantic florals. There are literary influences at work too, I am currently inspired by Welsh fables from the Mabinogion, and love creating mysterious winged creatures, including strange moths and flying sheep, horses and hares!

I often layer watercolours, pastels, salt and bleach over my prints to create a distinctive ethereal quality. Selected artworks are scanned and manipulated in Photoshop, then digitally printed onto luxury silks in the UK.

Bard includes designs inspired by Shakespeare. ‘Hurly Burly’ is a macabre homage to the Scottish play. ‘Ophelia’ is derived from an original collagraph print, and features mayflies, river plants and delicate summer flowers. Guell is a collection influenced by Gaudi’s decorative mosaics and architecture at Park Guell in Barcelona. Flora includes various romantic and delicate floral designs.
