Artist Statement
Inspired by colour and an active lifestyle, Pippa uses acrylic paints to create bold and energetic backgrounds using fluid art techniques. As much as she has a love for colour and movement, she likes to combine this with a focal point in a more traditional painting style, often drawing on nature and the world around us for inspiration. Pippa hopes to create artwork that appeals to many, combining the familiar with the abstract in a whimsical way, and offers her work as originals, prints, cards, and also takes commisions.
When not getting messy with acrylics, Pippa loves to illustrate, mostly animals and nature. Once again though, she does not wish to stick with the familiar for too long, and provides a more unexpected take on traditional illustrative work. You can often find bears and birds with expressions that can be easily related to, or predicaments that we may find ourselves in. There is usually an element of humour involved, which often brings a smile to the viewers face.
Pippa lives on the outskirts of the Peak District, attracted by the hills, countryside and opportunity for many muddy puddle walks (she has two young children, but who really needs an excuse for jumping in muddy puddles?). Before moving here she lived on the Isle of Wight for several years, so you'll find a few paintings inspired by the roaring sea and rolling waves.
